Erectile Dysfunction

While most men can experience some occasional erection trouble, this is not necessarily a cause for concern. However, if erectile dysfunction problems occur often, it not only affects the man but can also cause strain on a couple’s lifestyle and relationship. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is important to a man’s well-being and health.

Erectile dysfunction is defined as the persistent inability to achieve or maintain an erection adequate for satisfactory sexual activity. It is the most common disorder of sexual function in men. Despite this startling prevalence and the undisputed impact that erectile function has on a man’s self-esteem and quality of life, ED remained a largely under-diagnosed disorder, most often due to shame and taboo.

According to statistics, one out of every ten men will get ED at some point in their life. Epidemiological studies suggest that approximately 10% of men aged 40-70 have severe or complete erectile dysfunction, defined as the total inability to achieve or maintain erections sufficient for sexual performance. An additional 25% of men in this age category have moderate or intermittent erectile difficulties.

Around a quarter of males claimed their erection issues began between the ages of 50 and 59, and 40% said they began between the ages of 60 and 69. Although less common in younger men, erectile dysfunction still affects 5%-10% of men below the age of 40.

ED is usually a symptom of some other, more serious issue and affects at least 12 million males in the United States between the ages of 40 and 79. Many men have occasional erections failure which can be caused by different factors including excessive alcohol use, stress, relationship issues, or extreme exhaustion.

However, difficulty in obtaining an erection over 50% of the time, on the other hand, usually indicates that there is an issue and that intervention is required.

Usually, lifestyle changes and oral medications are first-line treatments for ED, but another option which is proving more popular is regenerative medicine in the form of shockwave therapy, such as OrthoGold 100, or platelet-rich therapy, such as truDOSE.

What Causes Erectile Dysfunction (ED)?

A variety of factors can lead to ED, such as:

  • Vascular disease: Because of vascular diseases like atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), the blood flow to the penis may become obstructed or restricted.
  • Neurological disorders (for example, multiple sclerosis): Strokes, diabetes, and other conditions can impair the nerves that send impulses to the penis.
  • Trauma: ED symptoms could be worsened by an injury.
  • Psychological issues: Stress, unhappiness, depression, lack of brain stimulation and performance anxiety can be examples of these.

ED can also be caused by chronic sickness, certain drugs and a condition known as Peyronie’s disease. Bladder, prostate and colon cancer operations could also be contributing factors.

In the past decade, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy have enjoyed greater notoriety within the medical community. Many famous athletes, including Tiger Woods, have received PRP therapy to improve their recovery and healing after suffering musculoskeletal injuries. Others have used it to prevent aging through something called “The Vampire Facial”.

TruDOSE has changed the tide in the real of PRP therapy, by being able to deliver an exact therapeutic dose based on the patients own metrics. TruDose is a personalized treatment option that is given intravenously, and thus tailor made to each patient.

Our blood consists of several different parts. “Whole blood” – unmanipulated blood drawn directly from the patient – consist of a light, yellow liquid called plasma. The three main components that our plasma is composed of are red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

Platelets are what helps the body heal up injuries and wounds. Platelets essentially circulate like paramedic drones within our bodies and survey for any damage. If found, they immediately identify potential threats and signal for help in order to provide acute support.

TruDOSE works by centrifuging a very high concentration of platelets from the patients own blood and injecting this into the affected area, in a clinical setting. The body recognizes this higher dose of platelets, and immediately puts them to work. PRP therapy, as a result, can be utilized to treat a wide range of illnesses, including erectile dysfunction.

Aside from being essential for blood clotting after an injury, platelets also include proteins, that act as growth factors, which aid in the healing process.

A medical practitioner takes a little sample of your blood and rotates it in a centrifuge machine to separate the platelets from the blood, and create a therapeutic dose.

The platelet concentration in the prepared dose is substantially greater than in the ordinary blood flow. This dose is then injected into the penis, under a local anesthetic.

Blood vessels are like the roads to transport healing resources to the site of an injury. Platelets are directly responsible for this task through a process called angiogenesis (the development of new blood vessels). This encourages the natural healing process to begin and start regenerating muscle tissue and blood vessels.

The injection is a simple procedure performed with a localized anesthetic in a clinical setting. Each treatment takes about an hour and you do not need to do anything to prepare for the treatment ahead of time.

PRP therapy for Eerectile Dysfunction improves the health of the blood vessels and the tissues of the penis, and employs the natural function of platelets in their healing functions of the body.

As healthy tissue returns to your penis, you can experience several benefits, including:

– Enhanced sensitivity.

– Improved blood flow to the area.

– Increased sexual stamina.

– Stronger and firmer erections.

– Increased length and girth of your penis.

– Fewer chances of premature ejaculation.

As TruDOSE therapy is based on a sample of the patients’ own blood, with no added materials or foreign agents, the treatment is extremely safe. Our consultation will cover any possible intolerance or allergenics in relation to the local anesthetic.

All platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy is not the same. Platelets contain a high concentration of growth factors and immune modulators, which have been shown to improve wound healing, improve hair growth, and possibly rejuvenate skin and other areas of the body. As each person’s platelet concentration is different, TruDOSE platelet-rich therapy differentiates from other PRP treatment options, by producing an exact therapeutic dose, based on each patient’s unique platelet-count.

This ensures a highly concentrated dosage enabling the treatment to reach an optimum effect for each patient. TruDOSE therapy should work for you. A successful outcome is reliant on several variables and we base our approach to your condition on a personal consultation.

OrthoGold 100

Although its title may sound a bit intimidating, shockwave therapy is actually a very simple process that focuses on improving blood flow to the penis. One major benefit is that all treatments are completely non-invasive. Shockwave pulses activate the body’s healing response which results in the formation of new blood vessels, reduces plaque in arteries and allows for improved blood flow, activates growth factors, enhances tissue repair and encourages nerve regeneration.

The programme is the first non-invasive treatment of its kind that can provide longer term, natural improvements and is suitable for both men at early and later stages of ED.

Shockwave therapy is FDA-approved for kidney stones, clogged arteries and diabetic foot ulcers. Furthermore, OrthoGold 100 is the only Unfocused Electrohydraulic ESWT (Extracorporal Shockwave Therapy) available in North America and it has an FDA 510(k) clearance.

It can bring lasting improvement without the need for pills, vacuum pumps, injections and implants, allowing patients to enjoy renewed sexual spontaneity, harder erections, intimacy and a better sex life.

For patients who have suffered from erectile dysfunction for longer periods improvements are often noticeable within two weeks after the therapy has started, although some patients report an immediate improvement.

A hand-held device is placed on the shaft of the penis and a series of low-level shock wave impulses are administered. These are are not painful for ED treatments.

Unfocused Electrohydraulic ESWT is produced by the action of very brief but powerful pulse discharges of electricity under a liquid such as water, producing sound, resulting in the generation of shock waves.

Essentially, OrthoGold 100 therapy works by fooling your body into thinking that it’s been injured. This triggers the release of the body’s own stem cells and “biological responders” to accelerate the natural, cellular healing mechanisms.

Although the machine is just now being introduced into the U.S., the technology is not new. Urologists have used soundwaves for more than 40 years to break up kidney stones with an 85 percent success rate. The Orthogold 100 is calibrated at a lower intensity, and is an outpatient treatment.

A session will last about 30 minutes and treatments are carried out either by a practising doctor or a medically trained shockwave specialist. Shockwave treatment is non-invasive, only require short visits to our clinic for the period of treatment recommended by the specialist and cause no side-effects.

This treatment option seeks to modify the underlying disease process of ED, instead of merely increasing erectile function. Recent publications show that shockwave therapy can restore natural and spontaneous erectile function by improving penile haemodynamics (the dynamic of blood flow) and underlying pathological changes, through its ability to help the body form new blood cells.

OrthoGold 100 acts upon tissues filled with fluid, like erectile tissue of the penis, and the blood vessels that bring blood to and from the organ. Shockwave therapy makes micro-bubbles form in the blood causing the erectile tissue cells to expand and compress. In essence, a micro-injury occurs that stimulates the tissue to express growth factors and attract stem cells. This can lead to tissue regeneration: The generation of new nerves and new blood vessels. Furthermore, these factors can act upon the existing damaged blood vessels and improve their flow, through the release of Nitric Oxide, a key chemical, which is essential in the physiologic pathway to erections – the same pathway that medicines such as Viagra work on.

SoftWave treatment causes no side-effects, is non-invasive and requires just short visits to our clinic for the period of treatment recommended by the specialist.

The TRT OrthoGold 100 SoftWave is the only Unfocused Extracorpeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) technology available, and is scientifically validated to accomplish the following:

– Shut down the inflammatory process at the treatment site. Results are typically an immediate relief of chronic pain and can release muscular tightness. Improvement of range of motion is a common result.

– Sustained improvement of blood flow. This has been linked to a release of various immune factors and an increase of certain molecules, that lead to the growth of new blood vessels at the treatment site.

– TRT SoftWave is scientifically validated to recruit and activate the body’s own stem cells, and activate their production, which assists the body to truly start healing from within.

SoftWave therapy should work for you. A successful outcome is reliant on several variables and we base our approach to your condition on a personal consultation.
